After 20 years of flooring installation experience working for others and himself, owner Mike Nelson expanded into sales and service in 2010 with the introduction of Carolina In Home Flooring & Design Center to the greater Raleigh area. A full-service residential flooring company, Carolina In Home Flooring & Design Center offers a beautiful designer showroom in Morrisville as well as the convenience of a simplified sales experience where flooring samples are brought to customers’ homes in our beautiful mobile showrooms. We work with most flooring product manufacturers, have experienced sales reps, dedicated installation crews, installation warranties, financing options and exceptional customer service.
Mike strives to surround himself with positive, motivated people to help him provide not only quality products, but quality service both before and after the sale.
Originally from Wisconsin, Mike moved to North Carolina in 1998 to begin a new flooring installation business. Mike was introduced to the flooring trade in 1989 after being encouraged by his uncle to attend the Armstrong Vinyl Flooring School. Mike’s desire to work a trade that could develop into his own business began then, and for the past 28 years, he has enjoyed building his knowledge through continued education and extensive experience in selling and installing hardwood, laminate, carpet and luxury vinyl flooring. Mike is very motivated, understand the importance of life balance, and values truth, family, hard work and having fun.
Jim has served as a business consultant to Mike and the company since its inception. Presently, Jim works full-time as an employee/business partner and handles all business matters associated with accounting and finance, marketing, IT, legal, HR, payroll, insurance, contracts and most internal business processes.
David joined our sales team in 2017 after several years as a residential flooring sales specialist in California. Since relocating to the greater Raleigh area, David has found working with people in this part of the country to be a very open and friendly process. David’s focus is to work diligently to find the right flooring for our customers, helping to make the decision as simple and easy as possible.
Lonnie joined Carolina In Home Flooring & Design Center in early 2019 after working in residential construction while earning a bachelor’s degree. Lonnie’s depth of residential construction knowledge is helpful when conversing with customers about their flooring needs. Lonnie’s goals align with ours…to connect customers with flooring products that meet their needs while considering quality, usefulness and price.
Kelly has assisted in various aspects of the business since its inception. Presently, Kelly oversees all office functions, primarily serving as back up for any tasks needing done during high sales volume times. Kelly specializes in optimizing work flow/organization to maximize office efficiencies.
Boris joined Carolina In Home Flooring & Design Center in 2017 as a project manager. In his role, Boris coordinates product shipments into our warehouse and out to all job sites for installation. This includes communicating with customers for installation dates and times, and ensuring our customers are satisfied with our installers’ work. Boris began working in the flooring business in 2008, has operated in various installation roles, and strives for high quality work in all he does.
Oscar started installing hard surface flooring in 2003, and since then, has developed into an exceptional craftsman and shares his skills and expertise with his employees and our customers. In addition to installation work, Oscar also serves as our Project Manager where he coordinates the receipt of all product shipments into our warehouse and out to job sites. In addition, Oscar communicates with all customers to schedule installations and to ensure jobs have been installed to our customers’ satisfaction prior to final payment.
Kirsty spends a majority of her time responding to new customer leads that come in through various marketing channels. In this role, Kirsty contacts all new leads, identifies what their flooring needs are and schedules in-home consultations. Chances are if you’re interested in discussing your flooring needs with us, you’ll likely speak to Kirsty. In addition to this role, Kirsty also handles customer payments and performs other administrative tasks. We’re confident you’ll find Kirsty friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk with!
